School of Social Work
Social Work's mission is to enhance human well-being and help meet
basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the
needs and empowerment of the vulnerable, oppressed or impoverished.
Thus, social workers seek to help people to meet their own needs,
and also to help organizations, communities and other social institutions
respond to social problems. The School
of Social Work's commitment to enhancing public services, quality
of life, and social justice is at the heart of NPM's work in bringing
practical experience and expertise to the public and nonprofit sectors.
In support of NPM, the School of Social Work:
- educates MSW students in current best practices in nonprofit and public management so that they are equipped for leadership positions as executive directors, board members, advocates and advisors.
- educates MSW students to understand the contribution of all sectors to the public's general welfare and be well equipped to work in new types of collaborations and partnerships across sectors.
- offers students in other professional degree programs courses that
deepen the management expertise of future leaders in many domains of nonprofit and public activity.
